Covenant?God's way of relating to humankind.

I. A CHANGE FROM EXTERNAL ACTIONS TO
INNER TRANSFORMATION.

"I will put my laws in their minds and write them on
their hearts."

A.Old Covenant?My right actions are what
                matters.

B. New Covenant?My right heart is what
                matters.

II. A CHANGE FROM BEING AFRAID OF GOD
TO TRUSTING HIM

"I will be their God, and they will be my people."

A.Old Covenant?The prospect of God's
                punishment.

B. New Covenant?The promise of God's
                presence.

III. A CHANGE FROM BEING APART FROM
GOD OR BEING ACCEPTED BY GOD.  

"No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man
his brother, saying, ?Know the Lord,' because they
all will know me, for the least of them to the greatest."

A.Old Covenant?I need someone to go to God
                for me.

B. New Covenant?I can go to God myself.

IV. A CHANGE FROM ROLLING BACK SIN TO
FORGIVENESS OF SIN
"For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember
their sins no more."

A.Old Covenant?The debt of sin grows.

B. New Covenant?The debt of sin is paid.
