STATE OF THE CHURCH ADDRESS   -- MATTHEW 22:34-40

I. PURPOSE TO HAVE A HEART FOR CHRIST "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."

A.  Purpose has to do with defining PRIORITIES.

B.  Purpose has to do with influencing PERFORMANCE.

1. It is about RELATIONSHIPS not rules.

2. Love for Christ is REVEALED in our words and actions.

C. How are we doing?

II. PURPOSE CONTINUED: TO HAVE A HEART FOR CARING. "Love your neighbor as yourself"

A. This command is second in order but not second in PRIORITY

B. Purpose has to do with defining DIRECTION.

1. Love for fellow BELIEVERS. (Galations 6:10)

2. Love for the LOST. (2 Corinthians 5:14)

3. Love for those in NEED. (1 John 3:16-18)

C. How are we doing?
